Odesk is a marketplace where Clients (buyers) post their jobs with a description of the job , the skills required , the price and the payment method either pay per hour or by the project . from the other hand , freelancers(who apply for the job ) have to build their profiles then apply for the job . The buyer picks one or two or whatever he wants to hire them to do the job . The payments are various , either by Paypal , bank account or check.

What's good with Odesk is that you have a lot of opportunites to find a job , because you can apply for any job you wants  it depends on your skills . For example if you are a designer , you can easily search for design jobs from the search box and you'll have hundreds of jobs to apply for . Or you are a translator and have good skills in some languages , apply for translation jobs . There are many fields out there , choose the job that fits your skills and wait for the buyer to hire you .

Fixed price and Hourly price 

There are two types of Odesk jobs : one is fixed which means the buyer will pay you after you complete the task . Fixed price jobs may take a long time to complete and it's somehow not guaranteed .


Hourly jobs means you will be paid per hour . Odesk has some awesome features on that such as the Odesk team app that you have to download and install on your computer . When you're hired for an hourly job , you'll have to clcok in the app which will be automatically taking some random screenshots of your computer to make the buyers sure that you're working . Hourly jobs are better because the payment is guaranteed and it will be added on your overall career .

Your first job 

Getting the first job may be the hardest thing in Odesk . Buyers don't hire new people sometimes because they don't have work records and nothing to show on their portfolio . That's why you should build you profile in a professional way as well as adding some few work examples on your portfolio . You may also pass some tests that Odesk give in each skill you mentioned on your profile .
When applying for the job , don't forget to write  a cover letter , it's the first impression so try to write something great about you , your experiance , your previous works ... in other words , make the buyer believe that you're the one he must choose to complete the job .
