Seo or Search Engine Optimization ( overview )

Search Engine Optimization or just simply seo , you may have heard of one of those expressions and you didn't know what it means or you know a bit about it but it's not that enough for you , and that's why you're reading this article . It's gonna be a bit long so grab a cup of coffee or some beer and let's go in our seo trip .
Seo is the processus of getting "organic" traffic from all major search engines such as Google and Bing ... or in other words it's your road to get ranked in the first 10 results on these search engines ( something every webmaster wants ) .

Let's break it down a bit , remember now what was the last action you did on google for example , you entered the website , you wrote the words you're looking for , you got the results , clicked on one of them , read or downloaded what you want and left , or maybe you stayed a bit more .

Yes almost it is , let's see it from another view , after the search engine gave you the results , which link you clicked on ? probably the three first links , did you go to the second results page ? No because you got what you want . So do you think the link you clicked on is the only website to have what you were looking for ? Sure no , there's the same in thousands of other websites , So why it's the first or second or the third one in the results ?

everybody is fighting to get ranked in the 3 top results to get more traffic , espacially the organic traffic that comes from the search engines because it comes for a specific things on your website and if they liked it , you have gained them as permanent users . It all depends on the traffic , traffic is the first key to build a successful online business .

How to get ranked in the first pages then ? 

There are two ways  :   The free way and the paid way .

The paid way is to pay google to display your website on top results for some certain keywords and that's what  Google Adwords is about .

The free way which is the hard way  : well , not that hard but it takes hard work espacially with search engines updates everytime which means you may be in the first page this month but after a couple of months you will loose your place .

And that's what happened when Google first did the Panda update back in 2011 which changes all the equations and some webmasters were about to loose their minds seeing their traffic going down and down in a single day and was all about quality content . After that came the Penguin update which refers to anything regarding webspam and which continues changing the game rules , and the last Penguin update named penguin 2.0 was in may 2013 which seems gonna be harsh a bit and serious about spamming , and may shut down a lot of online businesses Yes one update from Google can shut down your business  .
